Your Role
- As a Lead Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, assembling, installing, servicing, and upgrading high-end machine parts and modules.
- Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers and co-developers, guiding the creation of designs, documentation, and hardware.
- Translate high-level specifications into feasible tooling and action plans, considering factors such as concept design, tool selection, volume constraints, swap paths, inter-module interfaces, factory layout, cost, and cycle time.
- Optimise designs in collaboration with designers and other stakeholders.
- Lead and facilitate risk analysis sessions.
- Conduct feasibility studies and develop innovative concepts.
- Plan and coordinate module and sub-module development.
- Communicate with suppliers to review designs and drawings for manufacturability.
- Define and execute final testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate on integrating modules into complex systems.
- Manage outsourced tool development, refining specifications and ensuring a ‘first-time-right’ design approach.
Requirements
- Critical thinker with a structured approach.
- Safety-first mindset, prioritising risk mitigation.
- Ability to maintain a helicopter view without losing sight of critical details.
- Strong planning and organisational skills to manage multiple ongoing activities.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team of engineers.
- Proactive problem solver, willing to take initiative and defend technical decisions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in lifting tool design and risk assessment is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and co-developers.
- Strong understanding of complex engineering documentation, including regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software.
- Solid mechanical knowledge, including static design forces, strength, stability, kinematic constraints, and the ability to execute and verify hand calculations and FEM analyses.
- Ability to create high-level concept designs and resolve conflicting requirements.
