Your Role
Do you enjoy developing smart control solutions and translating complex processes into reliable PLC software? For an international engineering environment, we are looking for a Controls Project Engineer who thrives on combining design, programming, testing, and on-site commissioning.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality PLC control applications from the first concept to final commissioning. During the engineering phase, you work closely with colleagues from mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines to define functional requirements and translate them into a detailed control design. You then independently develop, program, and test the PLC software.
Once the system is ready for deployment, you will travel to project locations worldwide to bring installations into operation. Typical tasks include functional testing, integrating your software with other control components, supporting customer acceptance tests, and ensuring the system performs exactly as intended. You also keep a close eye on planning, quality, and budget to ensure smooth project delivery.
Your responsibilities
- Develop, program, and validate PLC controls based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with project engineers, technical specialists, and team leads across multiple disciplines.
- Perform on-site commissioning of PLC systems at international customer locations.
- Integrate PLC software into broader automation and control architectures.
- Support end-users during testing, validation, and acceptance phases.
- Monitor project timelines and deliverables, and resolve issues proactively.
- Share feedback to help improve engineering standards, tools, and processes.processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Computer Science, or similar.
- Strong technical insight and structured problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on, pragmatic, and able to work independently within project teams.
- Experience with PLC programming (TIA Portal or comparable systems is an advantage).
- Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 25%).
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
- Able to provide clear progress updates and collaborate effectively with both colleagues and customers.
